Course Description: You are a leader! Regardless of your rank or position in the department … Many of you were leaders before you joined the department, and all of you became leaders the moment you pinned on the badge. Leadership, in part, is the ability to influence people. There is arguably no more influential profession than law enforcement. The front line police officer is placed into more situations that call for strong leadership than any other position in the field. Strong leadership skills are essential to finding success in any field within the law enforcement profession. Leadership is a teachable and perishable skill, but is simply not taught and trained the same as other essential skills. This class is a practical, collaborative, and interactive lesson in leadership. It is a realistic look at leadership for officers of all ranks. While originally designed for the front line patrol officer, those of all ranks will benefit and are encouraged to attend.
